Project by: Daphna Levine, Meirav Aharon-Gutman, Shai Sussman
The work confronts the viewer with two opposing forces operating in society and the urban space: on the one hand – decline and deterioration of cities kneeling under the burden of providing services without a solid economic backbone; On the other hand - mobility and growth at the individual level through the upgrading of residential buildings as part of urban renewal.
This tension is illustrated in two visual representations: subsidence and perforation of the ground surface - in front of the islands of towers that float and rise upwards. The city of Bat-Yam is used as the test case.
